Øivind Skjervheim

Øivind Skjervheim (researcher) holds a Master's degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen. Before joining ideas2evidence, Øivind worked as a research assistant for the Norwegian Citizen Panel, and later LINGCLIM, Linguistic Representations of Climate Change Discourse and their Individual and Collective Interpretations, focusing in particular on climate surveys, the development of survey questions, and survey experiments. Øivind’s core expertise is in quantitative methods and statistics, although he has also worked on qualitative projects, including for the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung in Germany. At ideas2evidence, Øivind has been instrumental in the building of the company database utilized in the development of the Regional Business Monitor for Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. In addition to working on data collection and analysis of industry and correctional services, Øivind is particularly interested in interactive data visualization.

Pelle Engesæter

Pelle Engesæter (senior researcher) has a Master's degree in Human Geography from the University of Bergen, and has more than 20 years of experience as a researcher, evaluator, educator, and consultant. Pelle has worked as a senior consultant at Norconsult and Asplan Viak, where he was leading several evaluation and assessment projects, mainly opportunity and location analyses, regional planning, and transportation impact assessments. He has broad experience with evaluation work and has conducted a number of assessments of regional development projects, environment, and living conditions.
Pelle employs both quantitative and qualitative methods in his work, with a particular focus on designing and implementing surveys. Pelle has worked as a researcher for the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research and for the Eastern Norway Research Institute, and has taught at Lillehammer University College and at Telemark University College. Currently, he is an external examiner in Geography for the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the University of Bergen, and Volda University College.

Linn Synnøve Skutlaberg

Linn Synnøve (senior researcher) has a Master's degree in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of International Studies from the University of Oslo. During her studies, her focus was on international politics, international development policy, migration, and transnationalism. Before moving to Bergen in 2013, she worked for Rambøll Management Consulting for four years. There she was responsible for implementing a number of research projects and evaluations, drawing on both qualitative and quantitative methods, and acquired broad experience with evaluation methodology and project management. Linn Synnøve has led projects commissioned by the Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion, the Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs, and the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, among others. She has expertise in the organization and processes of the Norwegian child welfare services, the school system, and the fields of education and adolescence, and immigration and integration. Linn Synnøve also worked as an intern at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kathmandu and at the UNICEF County offices in Kathmandu, and as a volunteer in Peru.

Inger Nordhagen

Inger Nordhagen (senior researcher) has a Master's degree in Sociology from the University of Oslo and the University of California, Berkeley, and wrote her thesis on historical wage differences due to education attainment. Inger has an extended Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Spanish. After completing her MA in 2006, Inger lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to joining ideas2evidence, she directed an evaluation of 14 different programs and services in the San Francisco Public Schools. As a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, she developed an interdisciplinary study on the effects of social background, trauma and sexual development on the ability of children and adolescents to project into the future. Inger served as a graduate student instructor at the department of Sociology and as a lecturer at the department of Scandinavian Studies at UC Berkeley. She also founded and ran a social science translation company. Inger has extensive experience in developing, implementing and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Jostein Ryssevik

Jostein Ryssevik is the CEO and founder of ideas2evidence. Jostein has more than 25 years of experience from social science data production, management, analysis and dissemination, including the Norwegian Social Science Data Services (NSD). He is an expert in research methods and statistics and has written textbooks and developed software in these areas. Jostein has over the last few years managed a series of major research projects, several of these focusing on the cultural industries, economic development and the relationship between the business sector, education and research. Jostein has a strong interest in technologies for the analisys, visualization and dissemination of statistical data and he has managed several major development projects in this area, including the early development of NESSTAR, a software system for web-based data dissemination. His biggest devotion is data visualization -to find the the best possible ways to let complex data "tell their story".

Asle Høgestøl

Asle Høgestøl (senior researcher) is Master of Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen. His masters thesis focused on the effect of national oil resources on levels of democracy and is based on advanced statistical analysis of comparative data. Asle is a specialist of comparative method and statistical modelling. Prior to his current position at ideas2evidence, Asle worked as Research Assistant at the Department of Comparative Politics at the University of Bergen and at the Department of  Political Science at the University of Oslo. At ideas2evidence Asle has mainly been engaged in projects focusing on education and the labour market. He has also been central in various indicator development projects.

Malin Dahle

Malin Dahle (senior researcher) is Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from The Norwegian  Scool of Economics (NHH) and Bachelor of Economics and Logistics from Bergen University College. She also has an undergraduate degree in comparative politics and french from the University of Bergen and Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence, France. In addition to her background in economics, Malin has extensive experience in the use of qualitative methods. In her current position at ideas2evidence Malin has mainly been engaged in projects focusing on the cultural sector. Since 2012 she has also been running a Business Monitor project for Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane counties.

Róbert LUKÁCS (Developer/Designer)

Róbert LUKÁCS (developer/designer) is Bachelor of Science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Robert has more than 15 years of experience from survey-research, analysis and reporting, mainly from Gallup Romania and Gallup Hungary. Robert works on contract for ideas2evience in projects focusing on interactive data visualization. His analytical skills, combined with technical knowledge and an eye for good design, makes him a master in the data visualization field. Robert is also a dedicated photographer.

Olav Laug Bjørnebekk

Olav Laug Bjørnebekk (utreder) er master i sammenliknende politikk fra Universitetet i Bergen, med en masteroppgave om dommeradferd i Norges Høyesterett. Før Olav startet i selskapet var han vitenskapelig assistent ved Institutt for sammenliknende politikk ved Universitetet i Bergen. Der jobbet han med ulik tematikk, blant annet europeisk integrasjon, migrasjonsforskning – tilknyttet Velferd, arbeid og migrasjon (VAM) – og empirisk domstolsforskning. I hans siste prosjekt koordinerte han utviklingen av en programpakke som analyserer og systematiserer juridiske dokumenter. Han var også medforfatter på en rapport som demonstrerte mulighetene ved kvantitativ tekst- og nettverksanalyse av juridiske data. Han har også tidligere arbeidet som IT-assistent og vært praktikant i Business Region Bergen.

Olav er først og fremst en kvantitativt orientert statsviter og har god erfaring med statistiske analyser, men han har også erfaring med analyser av kvalitative data. Olav har hatt en tilknytning til selskapet siden 2013, da som timelønnet assistent. Han bidro blant annet til den tekniske dokumentasjonen av Norsk Medborgerpanel, samt besvarte henvendelser fra panelets respondenter. Siden tiltredelse har Olav primært arbeidet med statistikkproduksjon til prosjektet «Opplæring innenfor kriminalomsorgen» på vegne av Fylkesmannen i Hordaland.
